Pearls of
wisdom often come from children. A couple and their 9-year-old daughter were
riding in their car, and the husband was sharing with his wife the news of a
big sale he was about to wrap up at work. “That will give us enough money to
buy a new car,” he said. The little girl, listening quietly, spoke up from the
backseat, “If you’re making all that money, why aren’t you guys happier?”
Happiness is
not something we can buy to satisfy the yearnings we feel. To be happy, the
human spirit must be fulfilled. Jesus explained in John 6:35 how to find true
happiness: “I am the bread
of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me
shall never thirst.”
Happiness is
Christ living in your heart. He’s the
fountainhead from which all true happiness flows.
